If you drive to work and wish to park near Mercury House you will need to buy a staff parking permit, to use the Station Road car park situated opposite Mercury House. This permit is valid for 12 months. You can also buy a permit for residents/non-residents if you wish to use all other Richmondshire District Council car parks in the local vicinity in addition to the Station Road car park.

The charges for the permits are shown below:

The monthly charge will be taken directly out of your salary. Please note that the monthly charge is likely to increase annually on 1 April. It is a rolling cost so you will continue to be charged monthly until your terminate your contract.

Termination of employment
Once you terminate your contract your permit (and barrier entry card to gain entry to the Station Road car park) will become invalid once you leave the council. You should provide one month's notice of permit termination to admin2@richmondshire.gov.uk and the permit and entry card should be returned to Business Support on the final day of use.

Temporary change of vehicle
If you temporarily change your vehicle for a short period, please transfer your permit to your temporary vehicle. You do not need to let the open spaces team know you are using this vehicle.

Permanent change of vehicle
If you permanently change your vehicle, please complete the change of vehicle form. Please retail your original permit to transfer to your new vehicle.

Issues not dealt with in this form:

  • Change of vehicle - if you permanently change your vehicle you will need to complete a change of vehicle form. Failure to do so will put you at risk of getting a parking ticket. Please retain your original permit to transfer to your new vehicle, otherwise you will be required to purchase a new permit. 

  • Appeals against parking enforcement notices. These should be referred to Scarborough Borough Council

What happens next?

Upon submission of your application, you will receive an email to confirm when your temporary car parking permit and barrier pass are ready to be collected from the Business Support team. Once collected, please display your permit on the passenger side of your windscreen.
